The start of October usually has us thinking about cozying up with a warm drink or brainstorming costume ideas for Halloween but for the many thousands of people touched by breast cancer every year, the month of October has taken on a decidedly different significance as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
This year, in support of raising breast cancer awareness Lille Boutique is running an in-store donation drive for Pink Lemonade Project and we’ll also be donating a portion of our store proceeds for the month of October. Pink Lemonade Project (501c3) is an amazing local charity supporting those in the Southwest, WA and Portland, OR area. Founded in 2010 by Drs. Allen and Cassie Gabriel when they noticed a serious lack of information and resources within the breast cancer community, such as when someone should get a mammogram (with or without a history of breast cancer), as well as the rights and available options for restoration after having a mastectomy or lumpectomy. Initially providing a retreat for 14 brave women, Pink Lemonade Project expanded in 2011 with the offering of singles and couples retreats. Over the years, they have grown to provide a number of support groups and retreats for the over 3,000 people diagnosed with breast cancer every year in our region.
Together with our contribution, your donations will go directly to Pink Lemonade Project so they can continue to support, educate, and empower those who are impacted by breast cancer in our community.
