I have been courting designer Kee Edwards since 2008, when her lovely organic cotton loungewear line, Loup Charmant, which means “the charming wolf,” was merely a small part of the sweet and sustainable Ekovaruhuset collective, founded by Swedish native Johanna Hofring. This was long before her label was found in such illustrious retail outlets as Steven Alan and Barneys, and the nature of her product (sustainable, organic, handmade in NYC, etc.) made it a perfect match for Lille, in spite of the economic crisis. We put together a tiny collection for Lille Boutique way back then, but production problems made it difficult for us to connect, and we had to wait until things gelled a bit to bring the collection to Portland. At long last, it is here! She has expanded her offerings considerably to include gorgeous colors like teal and mustard, and instead of just bloomers, bralettes and camis, she now designs a full collection of dresses, chemises, rompers and the like. You can’t look at these garments without wanting to pack a bag and go somewhere near the sea for several weeks, where you will while away the hours working on your novel, strolling on the beach, taking snapshots with a vintage camera, and generally living a life of leisure. Oh, to dream….
