Apparently, today is “No Pants Day,” according to the official website:
“No Pants Day is a day where everyone, be they students, respectable businessmen, or cherished community leaders, leave their pants behind. Usually this means wearing thick, appropriately modest boxer shorts, but bloomers, slips, briefs, and boxer-briefs all work as well.”
The Austin Chronicle reports that the holiday dates back to 1928, when several liberal Hollywood types (including two of my favorite actresses, Norma Shearer and Lillian Gish) flouted social convention by drunkenly parading around sans trousers. I much prefer this legend to the more commonly accepted notion that it started in Austin in the mid-80s.
Regardless of the origin, it sounds like a great opportunity to show off your lingerie collection without looking like a lunatic – provided, of course, you get your friends to join you in observing the holiday. To celebrate this momentous occasion, I recommend any of the following panty options as suitable attire:
On sale for $158 (regularly $175), this is one of the more luxurious pantless options, but also sufficiently modest. Made from bamboo and silk, they are so soft that you’ll think the cloth was woven from Angel Hair.
The beautiful lace trim on this Araks boyshort contrasts the subtlety of the cotton crepe for a modern, sophisticated effect, particularly in Ash with Berry Trim.
Comfy and cute, the vintage inspired Scarlet Tap Panty works well over another pair of undies as a bloomer, or even over tights with heels for a true Tap Pant effect. Limited colors and sizes available, marked down to $68 from $76.
Nothing feels better than silk, especially when it comes with an affordable price tag. Snap these up for just $30 before they’re all gone.
