The “Watercolors” exhibit by William L. Wacker will be opening tomorrow as the March installment of our recurring First Friday local artist series. Wacker has shown in New York, Pennsylvania, and California, as well as at many University Galleries, and has chosen to stray from his usual mediums of oil paint and photography for this, his Pacific Northwest debut.
Watercolor painting offers Wacker a sense of freedom and unpredictability as he lets the pigments work themselves into compositions loosely based on landscape and nature. His dark and moody color palate is often set off with surprising sparks of bright and beautiful colors, not unlike Gerhard Richter’s later works. These works are representative of a natural world that is at once both cruel and dazzling.
The artist’s reception will be held at our store from 6pm to 9pm tomorrow night. Please join us to admire the work, chat with the artist and have a glass of wine. Hope to see you then!
